Current Obama Legislation Will Cancel your
Company-Based Health Care Plan
Dave Blanton
(Editor's Note: Americans spend twice as much on healthcare as other countries, but it turns out that they're not getting twice the quality for the price when they go to the doctor or hospital. The U.S. health system spends a higher portion of its gross domestic product than any other country but ranks 37 out of 191 countries according to the World Health Organization. The following is a description, provided by our good friend Dave Blanton, of what is going to happen, not what might happen, when the current regime's health care plan is put into operation. You will be availed the very same quality health care as the poorest people in the country will receive. Think: lowest common denominator. I personally think our current health care system is woefully lacking. What's coming will be dysfunctional. The powers that be have determined that there is not enough air on the planet for both them and the masses to breathe at the same time. I tend to agree. - JSB)
Dear Friends:
A friend sent me this link - which is a funny but scary video on what ordering a pizza might be like 2015. It's about 2 minutes and well worth watching even if it only amuses you. Make sure you turn up the volume on your computer speakers, listen closely and watch the mouse pointer as the caller's order is taken!
However, here's an even more realistic possibility that I dreamed up based on legislation that's before Congress this very day:
Picture a single mother of two, working 32 hours a week who receives assistance in the form of WIC, Food Stamps, and/or Welfare. The children's father is not in the picture and she receives no child support. She lives in subsidized housing and pays less than $200 per month in rent for Section 8 housing. She has no health insurance, nor do her children, but she receives Medicaid. She smokes and is considered obese by the AMA. Her children are also overweight for their ages.
Jump ahead to where Obama's health care plan is passed.
She now also has Health Care added to the list of services she receives. The government is now paying for her food, housing and health care. She also uses public transportation (the bus or train) which is almost universally subsidized by local and state taxes. Her children's daycare and/or public education is paid for by the government as well.
Things really seem to be getting better for her and her children.
But are they?
What happens, or what would you call it, when one day some bureaucrat realizes she is using the Food Stamps to buy the cheapest food available so she can get the most food on the table for her family. This means pre-packaged, highly processed foods, high in fats, carbs, sugars, and other unhealthy chemicals and ingredients. The bureaucrat then determines her economic grocery choices, made out of necessity, is what's causing the obesity, which of course, dramatically increases the risk for health issues, and thus an increase in the cost of her health care costs.
So the powers that be, now seeing this all over the nation, decide to begin issuing color-coded Food Stamps that are usable only to purchase certain types of foods. All grocery stores are required to enforce this new system through the redemption process. The color code that a recipient receives, and thus the type of food they can purchase, is based on their health screenings. Of course, the government databases that control her health records are tied into the database that issues the Food Stamps. Aside from our single mother, the economic affects of this new system ripple through the US causing all sorts of unintended consequences as businesses react to the shift in dynamics surrounding her purchases.
Suddenly, with the stroke of a pen, under the guise of lending a helping hand, the government has gained absolute control of what, and how much, a human being eats.
Think about that for a moment - in addition to controlling the level of her housing, health care, transportation, and education, for the first time in US history since the abolition of slavery in 1866, one person now controls the very essential existence of another human being, simply by regulating what and how much food a person consumes.
Now, picture a family of four, dual combined income of $85,000/year. Solidly middle-class and now on Obama's health care plan since their employers cancelled their company-based plan (this is a requirement of the current legislation following a 5-year grandfather clause). They receive no government assistance. They pay for their groceries using their bank issued debit or credit cards, using money they worked for and earned.
The government, having realized its new found level of control over the poor, now passes a law requiring all food purchases to be made using debit/credit cards, with the bank records of these purchases tied to the health care database of the consumer. Again, as with the single mother, now the family's food choices are dictated by the government.
Of course the government realizes the assistance-free middle-class won't stand for this, so they have to offer them a "choice." What would that be? The "freedom" to purchase whatever you want with the trade-off being higher insurance rates or a tax on the food itself to offset your poor choice.
Think my tin foil hat may be on just a bit too tight here? They already do it with discretionary items. Take cigarettes; if you choose to smoke, they force you to submit to nicotine testing, and should you fail, you pay higher rates. Is it such a impossibility for a debt riddled and dying government to make the leap to following the same pattern with a non-discretionary purchase such as food? I think not.
But wait you say, couldn't they just pay in cash? Ever heard of the National ID card? Have a Driver's License or Social Security card? The method of ID and payment isn't important.
The fact that the government controls your health care records is the key. Once they have that, your freedoms are gone. It's only a matter of time.
The saddest part is, while you sit and think good ole' Dave has gone off his rocker, you - yes, you - will submit and volunteer to this type of treatment. Why? Because it's easier than fighting for your freedom, and as part of the American population we've forgotten that most things worth keeping are worth fighting for.
This is the road we're headed down dear reader. Other people making choices for you simply because they feel you are too stupid to make good decisions for yourself. It's either that, or they simply want to control every aspect of your life.
Is the America we want? Not me. |
