Of UFOs, Covid Relief, and "Disclosure" One of the strangest stories that I kept getting during the holiday break was about that committee attachment to the Covid “relief” bill that was snaking (pun intended) its way through Congress, until it slithered its way to the White House, where Orange Man Bad’s initial response was “what? Millions for Pakhistan but only $600 for Americans?” Or something like that. Amid all that pork that Congress likes to stuff into such bills for relief of their friends and cronies, was a very odd rider, and I’m sharing the version of the story that S.Z. sent to me: COVID legislation gives Pentagon, spy agencies 180 days to spill all about UFOs Here’s the gist:
As one might expect, this news had the antennae of the ufology community pulsing in anticipation that at long last “disclosure” was at hand. The bad news for that view is that any such “airing” of information to the Senate Intelligence Community is not likely to be aired in open session, and any transcripts of such sessions, if not classified, would doubtless be released heavily redacted. After all, one Senator Joseph McCarthy – for those who’ve read my book McCarthy, Monmouth, and the Deep State – ran into the UFO issue in a major way during his Monmouth hearings in 1952-53, and was rewarded with a career-ending showdown with the US Army in the Army-McCarthy hearings, and the transcripts of those Monmouth hearings were kept classified by the Senate until 2003, ostensibly because by 2003 it was finally safe to release them since everyone mentioned in the hearings was dead. Yup. Seriously folks. That’s the official reason. It had nothing whatsoever to do with McCarthy’s rather pointedly delicate references during those hearings to Roswell, to radar experiments, to atomic cannon, the Air Force’s UFO-related Project Bluebook, or financial malfeasance on an enormous scale, and involving FDR treasury guy (and Soviet mole as it turns out) Harry Dexter White. What we did know at that time in the 1950s, was that McCarthy was exercised about the promotion of a Communist dentist, Major Irving Peress, during the latter’s service at Fort Monmouth. In other words, more McCarthy much-ado-about-next-to-nothing. Well, now we know, thanks to those transcripts and anybody who bothers to read them, that it was much ado about some very big somethings. And that makes me wonder, what bee got into Senator Dubio Rubio’s (as I like to call him) bonnet that all of a sudden UFO disclosure requirements got stuffed into that bill as an attachment? And here’s where my high octane suspicion of the day comes in, because I suspect that if one parses those four areas mentioned – geospatial intelligence, signals intelligence, human intelligence, and measurement and signals intelligence – rather closely, one might hazard some guesses as to what might be on the committee’s collective mind. Consider just the first two, and the last, entry in that list: geopspatial, signals, and measurement and signals intelligence. These all imply an awareness that we have been gathering UFO intelligence from all of our space assets – space probes, satellites, perhaps even spy satellites (as I averred in my talk at the San Matteo Secret Space Conference in 2014) – on UFOs. That should come as no surprise to anyone with an open mind and an interest in space and/or UFOs, but it is a basic confirmation of the hypothesis that our involvement in space and spy satellites is about a lot more than keeping up with, and track of, those never-to-be-trusted-and-always-byzantine-Russians. The same can, I suspect, be said about the fourth entry in that list, “measurement and signals” intelligence. It’s the third item in that list that has my high octane speculation and suspicion meter into the red zone, because what does human intelligence mean? In the context of “intellese”, the peculiar language of the intelligence “community,” human intelligence or HUMINT as it’s sometimes known, is the jargon for information that one gets from human intelligence sources, either from surveillance of or from spies placed within an enemy’s “camp.” The first implies that one knows or at least strongly suspects who an enemy’s agents are to begin with. After all, one doesn’t waste precious FBI resources surveilling the janitorial staff at the Russian embassy, one tails the military attache, and so on. That’s normal counter-intelligence procedure. And it implies something else: wiretaps or signals surveillance of said people. The second, actual spies placed within a foes’ organizations and military, oftentimes officers or bureaucrats who have been “turned”, implies something even more breathtaking, namely, that not only does one know who the enemy’s agents are, or strongly suspects who they are, but that they actually have successfully planted spies, or even turned some of the enemy into moles or agents, within that enemy’s organizations. The implication that emerges from all of this is that it appears that many on the Senate Intelligence (note the oxymoron!) Committee suspect that "they" may already be here, walking and living amongst us, only they're not Soviet sleeper cells, but "someone else's" entirely. (Book of Enoch anyone?) And they want to know, what, if anything, federal intelligence agencies, and particular that responsible for counter-intelligence, the FBI, knows about it. And like I said, any "disclosure" will be made behind closed doors, and in executive session. They learned their lessons on that score from Senator McCarthy. See you on the flip side...
