As the editor of the Silver Bear Cafe, I spend most of my time researching current events. I explore the markets, the war, precious metals, the Federal Reserve and energy. In this weekly column I will attempt to condense the week's events and examine how the news might affect your pocketbook. JSB

Financial Markets

General motors is about to go belly up. The company has $300 billion in debt, and their market cap is only 16 billion. This makes for a very large problem. Consequently it is not just a problem for GM investors and employees, it looms as a problem of catastrophic proportions for the U.S. economy.

GM will soon be a $300 billion dollar blow-up. I believe that what we know about the floundering company's woes will turn out to be "just the tip of the iceberg".

On the War Front

A statement released on March 8 and signed by almost 400 Venezuelan journalists accused the US government and media of a campaign to prepare the ground for a US military attack on oil-rich Venezuela.

In February, the Venezuelan government publicly accused the US government of plotting to assassinate Chavez. Tensions were further heightened when the Venezuelan government announced it had detected the secret presence of “US Marines, along with military planes and amphibious vehicles” on the Caribbean island of Curacao, just 75 kilometers from the Venezuelan mainland, according to an Associated Press report on March 1.

While Washington has been hostile to the Venezuelan government ever since Chavez's election in December 1998, a public campaign by both government officials and the US media has been underway since Condoleezza Rice became US secretary of state in January.

Venezuela supplies up to 15% of US oil imports and the US purchases up to 60% of Venezuela's oil output. A key goal of the Chavez government has been ensuring full government control over Venezuela's oil industry in order to use its earnings to eradicate poverty. This has put

Venezuela at odds with US oil corporations, and therefore at odds with the US government. The combination of Washington's isolation in Latin America and its need for Venezuelan oil is likely to keep at bay the threat of a direct military attack by the US, but it is also clear the Bush administration is preparing the ground for an attack of some sort against the Chavez government. - excerpt taken from Stuart Munckton's article; Venezuela: Bush's Next Oil War?

Precious Metals

You have heard me say it before, but I am compelled to say it again. Silver is going to the moon.

Energy

Calcasieu Real Estate and Oil (CKX) owns about 14,000 acres in Louisiana that host oil and gas wells, mines, timber, and agricultural operations. The company, which was formed in 1930, does not perform any mining or oil and gas operations. Instead, it generates revenues through royalties from the natural resources produced from its land.

Calcasieu Real Estate and Oil's properties have proved reserves of approximately 10 million barrels of oil and 338 million cu. ft. of natural gas. Sales to Cox & Perkins accounts for more than 70% of the company's sales; Riceland Petroleum; 14%.
The Group's principal activity is to lease properties for mineral, agriculture and raising timber. The Group collects rents and royalties from leased properties. It has mineral interests in the parishes of Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, Jefferson Davis, LaFourche, Sabine, St. Landry and Vermilion in Louisiana. The Group's operations are carried out through three segments: Oil and gas properties, Agriculture properties and timber properties. The customers of the Group are Cox and Perkins, Riceland Petroleum Company, Neumin Production and Woodlawn. Oil and gas properties accounted for 77% of 2002 revenues, Timber properties, 11%; Agricultural properties, 10% and Other, 2%.

The Fed

"Capital must protect itself in every possible manner by combination and legislation. Debts must be collected, bonds and mortgages must be foreclosed as rapidly as possible. When, through a process of law, the common people lose their homes they will become more docile and more easily governed through the influence of the strong arm of government, applied by a central power of wealth under control of leading financiers. This truth is well known among our principal men now engaged in forming an imperialism of Capital to govern the world. By dividing the voters through the political party system, we can get them to expend their energies in fighting over questions of no importance. Thus by discreet action we can secure for ourselves what has been so well planned and so successfully accomplished." - USA Banker's Magazine, August 25, 1924

Financial Survival

During the twentieth century, cutting edge researchers, inventors and scientists were able to unlock the mysteries of harnessing our planets's natural energies. People like Nikola Tesla, T. Henry Moray, Edwin Gray, and Paul Baumann among many others developed electric motors that derived their power from the magnetic fields of the Earth. Dr. Robert Adams developed astounding designs of electric motors, generators and heaters that derive their power from permanent magnets. Dr. Tom Bearden has two working models of a permanent magnet powered electrical transformer. Jean-Louis Naudin has duplicated Bearden's device in France. The principles for this type of device were first disclosed by Frank Richardson in 1978. Troy Reed has working models of a special magnetized fan that heats up as it spins. Beyond these developments, multiple inventors have identified working mechanisms that produce motor torque from permanent magnets alone.

Besides experimentations that create electricity, there have been dozens of breakthroughs using the created electricity to generate even more power through super-efficient electrolysis, implosion/vortex engines, cold fusion, and solar assisted heat pumps.

The point is, as a civilization, we already have the technologies that could provide pollution free energy at no cost. Technologies that could eliminate greenhouse gases, desalinate all the water humanity could ever need and pump this water to any location on the planet, at no cost! We could grow unlimited quantities of food in heated greenhouses, clean up the environment, and eliminate the causes of disagreements and wars worldwide. Where are these technologies? Why is mankind being deprived of their benefits?

ostritchIts not what you don't know that will screw you up, it's what you know that is wrong. The spin you hear from the mainstream media is intended to mislead you. Open your eyes and face the future. If you leave your head in the sand and ignore it, you are only leaving your butt exposed for the world to kick. This all may sound like gloom and doom, but when you get a handle on what is going to happen, you will have a future filled with opportunity. Fortune favors the Informed.
